Aunt Jeanne was full of love and kindness. She always hugged and kissed us; and laughed a lot. We enjoyed being with her. I remember visiting her home in KY with Ray. We rode bikes up and down the hill in front of their home. Darlin took a horrible spill. She was such a little girl then; we all were. It's etched in my mind. One of those distant memories that stand out from all of the others. Aunt Jeanne and Ray took good care of her. We slept on blow up rafts in the den which we thought was a real treat - just fantastic! Many, many years later when my mother was ill, Aunt Jeanne was a constant source of peace and calm. I'll never forget her stroking my mom's head and whispering, "it's okay honey, it's okay, we love you." Aunt Jeanne's heart was breaking over losing her sister but she was telling mom it was okay. (Another moment etched in my memory). I never saw Aunt Jeanne angry or heard a cross word. She seemed genuinely happy with herself and the world. I loved her "sayings"...she once told my husband that he was a "tall drink of water" after they shared a dance at Eduardo's in Mt. Dora. Mom was so happy when Jeanne moved to Florida so they could be together. I remember Mom and Jeanne making tabletop Christmas Trees out of fabric. It was a special project that they worked on together. I still have one of them. One of my favorite photos of "the girls" was taken in front of Mom's apartment - Leah, Jeanne & Mom - arms around each other - heads thrown back - laughing. What a special moment that was and I am delighted that I was there, with camera in hand, to catch it. It's how I always want to remember them. We are so sorry for your loss and send our love. Aunt Jeanne loved all of you so much.

I have memories of my Aunt Jeanne that no one but she and I shared, going back to when I was 6 or 7 and she was 16 or 17. She took me with her to "drive around" in her car one night with another girlfriend of hers. The teens ran into a carload of guys, one of whom became her husband a few years later, Ray. I remember him telling her his name as he leaned out of the drivers window. He was so cute! The group made plans to meet somewhere and I wanted to come along so badly that I sunk down onto the floor behind her seat hoping she would forget I was with her. She didnt. She took me home and kissed me good night and promised we would do something again soon. And we did. She took me for ice cream and to a playground in Evanston and she gave me hand puppets of Charlie Horse and Lambchop. Aunt Jeanne made me feel special and loved. I will miss her as I miss her sister, my mom, Edith who passed in 1992. Jeanne rode that sad course with my family that year too but it was that year that I got to know my Aunt as a true source of strength and love and loyalty. I guess I sort of thought or perhaps wished she would always be there for us and am depressingly saddened to know she is not. But I take comfort in the hope that she has rejoined her husband Ray and my mom, her parents, sister Leah and brother Eddy in a safe and happy place. Tell everyone I said "Hey" Aunt Jeanne, and we love and miss all of you. And to your lovely Bonnie, Danny, and Julie, my heart goes out to each of you during this most difficult of times. She told me how proud she was of every one of you when I visited her a few months ago. You gave her so much joy. Love to all of you...

So sorry for the loss of your mother, family member and friend. Aunt Jeanne, my mother Edith's sister, was living in Kentucky when we were young. On a vary rare road trip for us, we went to visit for a week, during which all four of us girls contracted the measles. It curtailed any sightseeing, but I do remember later in the week we all got to see the dam and river area near them. I appreciated the effort to keep us busy and our disappointment to a minimum with loads of card games. Aunt Jeanne did have a great sense of humor as well, which I am sure helped with our plight while visiting. A whole life time has gone by since, but this trip to visit Aunt Jeanne will always be a memory for me. Love & Sympathy to all, from Denise Kalmes, my sons, Nate & Tyler and my grand daughter Kiley.
