It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Major General Arzola. I served under General Arzola from 1997 through 1999 when he led Reserve Affairs in the United States Southern Command. General Arzola assembled a joint service team to engage in Military to Military expert and legislative exchanges in Central and South America and Australia. I was fortunate to be appointed to lead this team under General Arzola's command and to be ordered to active duty with Southern Command accomplishing productive exchanges on five occasions at the Pentagon with representatives from Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Chile, Guatemala. Honduras, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela; and in country visits to Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Peru. General Arzola accompanied the team on most of these visits and contributed immeasurably to the success of the exchanges. General Arzola was an outstanding leader and individual. His passing is a great loss to the United States of America. I send my condolences to General Arzola's family and friends.

I met Maj. Gen. Arzola, when he was the Drill Master of the Pershing Rifles Drill Team, at a Drill meet at the UPR. His job as DM made me join the ROTC and try for the Drill Team. I was with the Tean for two years, my best two years in college.
I am sorry to learn of his demise.

**DESPEDIDA con PENA; Celebremos la Vida Eterna!**
Hola!

Prayer of St. Francis of Asisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen!

My deepest sympathies to the family. Jorge and I were classmates at UPR ROTC from 1962 to 1966 when we were commissioned as 2Lt’s US ARMY. Although our careers took different pathways I always remembered him as a very good friend.
I know the rest of our 1966 UPR ROTC class will miss him.

I met Jorge when we joined the ROTC at the UPR in 1962 and our careers took different paths once we were commissioned in 1966. Jorge was on outstanding cadet and continued in the same path during his military career. Although I never met his immediate family, through this message I express my deepest condolences while assuring them that, in accordance with our christian beliefs, we will surely meet again at a time unknown to us; while in the meantime, the memory of our loved ones keeps them close to us. May his soul rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon him!

Doña Cecy, Arlene y Jorge:
Con las más profunda tristeza nos despedimos de Don Jorge - caballero, padre, amigo, ejemplo; sobre todo, baluarte.
We fondly recall the school bus rides together, growing up along your side, the many school football games sharing the bleachers (even then, he rescued us!), and innumerable different encounters throughout our lives, across cities and time...
Toma, hermano sin medida
Lo que quieras para ti
Que cuando salgas de aquí
Para ganar otra vida
Sólo tendré lo que di

I had the pleasure of meeting General Arzola in 2015, when he was in Washington, D.C., visiting Arlene. It was a wonderful encounter and it gave me an opportunity to share with him how much I thought of Arlene - as a leader, advocate, and patriot in service to our great nation. It became evident to me in our brief discussion that General Arzola was himself an exceptional leader and patriot. As I learned more about his years of service, his commitment to excellence, and his love of family, it was apparent that he was Arlene's wellspring of inspiration to lead greatly in all things.
My God bless his wonderful family and provide them comfort as they grieve his passing.

My deepest condolences for your loss. May you find hope, peace, and comfort in Acts 25:8 knowing that we will never have to experience losing a loved one again. I’m sure you look forward to the time when no resident will say ‘ I am sick’. Your family and friends are in my prayers.

Dear Cecy, Jorgito & Arlene:
We are so sorry about your great loss. There are no words to describe what Jorge meant to me. As a young man I remember him leading the ROTC Brigade, later becoming a second lieutenant, becoming part of the Special Forces and his distinguished and heroic service in Vietnam and later becoming a two star general. He was always a great example to all of us. He was always my military inspiration and the reason I joined ROTC and made the Army a career.. He was a great person that always left a profound mark in all of us that knew him. My heart is full of sorrow, but at the same time I am grateful to have known the man. In this difficult moment, please accept my deepest sympathy. I share your sorrow and only hope that the great memories will give you some comfort. He will be in my heart forever and will never forget him.
Tito
