Joseph “Joe” Michael Asselta Jr., age 74, of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully Saturday evening, November 17, 2018.

Joe was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and a friend to all that knew him. He was a lifelong maintenance engineer. If there was a mechanical or landscape problem, he was always there to offer his help. Whether it be for family or friend, he was always willing to lend a hand.

He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1944. As a young man, he joined the Army for several years during the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Army, he opened his own landscaping business in Massachusetts. However, Joe continued his passion for travel by embarking on a career as truck driver. Joe traveled via an 18-wheeled truck all over our great country. Finally, Joe settled down in 1979 to marry the love of his life, their wonderful daughter was born several years later.

Retiring in Florida, Joe enjoyed spending his free time with his beloved grandsons creating traditions that will continue after his passing. Their favorite was to spend nearly every Saturday for the last seven years going to garage sales and stopping for donut and coffee at Dunkin Donuts.

Joe is survived by his wife Kirsten Asselta, daughter Erin Asselta, son-in-law Andrew Brewster; grandsons Noah and Lincoln Brewster; sisters Shirley McMahon and Susan Cruz; nieces Donna Brown, Cindy Sears and nephew William McMahon Jr. and their children. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.

A service will be held in January 2019 at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, the family will provide details at a later time.
