Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On June 29th in Orlando, Florida, Patricia Ramos rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings.

Pat - or Patty, as she was known to friends - was a beloved member of the Orange County Public School System where she was an integral part of the food and nutrition services.

In her role, she interacted with several schools, and helped create incredible programs geared toward students and the community.

Though Pat's health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for her children and grandchildren kept her pushing through the pain.

Pat was a compassionate spirit whose always went out of her way to help others. She was unendingly generous.

Patricia is survived by her children, Christina and Miguel; her grandchildren, Kaleb, Logan, Mason, and Evie, as well as her siblings, Susie, Gail, Mary, Mark, and Gary. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chico Ramos.

Unfortunately I found out that Pat is no longer with us today. Pat was my MIT supervisor at OCPS food any nutrition services. Definitely the world lost an angel because Pat had gone home to the Lord because she deserves it. I will always remember her and even though this message was written too late, I never forgot her kindness.

I was fortunate enough to have worked with Pat and was impressed and amazed at how her health was never a reason for her to be sidelined. Poor health myself, she taught me our physical limitations do not define us, rather they cause us to be creative when tackling any problems. She was a bright light that I am blessed to have known her.

My sincere condolences to the family of Ms. Pat. She had such a giving spirit about her always willing to help anyone. I’ll forever remember our fishing outing together with her brother Mark and I. I knew Pat at Magic Way. Our department was in the same building. Pat seemed to be everyone's Mom or Grandma. She always greeted me with a smile and never once did she complain though some times I saw her eyes teared up from pain. I now have the comfort of a remembered talk with her - that one day I would see her differently - that all of us would be made whole and that the only tears would be those of joy. Goodnight, Pat.

Pat was such a great soul. She was always kind to others and always gave selflessly. There is a special place for her in heaven. I will miss you, Pat with my heart. I loved Pat with all my heart. She was a dedicated friend. I could tell her anything. We shared the good and sometimes challenging times in foodservice. I trusted her opinion. She always wanted the very best for children in Orange County. I will miss her! A true hero for children!

Ms. Pat may you rest easy and rise into paradise sweet lady! I will always remember how well you treated me when you hired me into the MIT program back in 2008 for FNS. We had many laughs as you had been trying to hire me for 3 years and I kept getting pregnant. Peace and Prayers to your children and grandchildren.

God Bless Ms. Pat, she hired me into the OCPS in 2006 as a Sub Manager and helped elevate my journey through as a Foodservice Manager.
