Edward E. Marquardt

Edward Elmer Marquardt, 92, long time resident of Winter Haven, Florida passed away on November 5, 2016 in Titusville, FL where he had lived for the past two years.

Edward was born on June 15, 1924 in Hamtramck, Michigan to the late Robert and Helen (Wentzel) Marquardt.

Active during his youth in Utica, Michigan, he was well liked by many. He served as Utica High School Class President for two years, was captain of the basketball team and was in the graduating class of 1942.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University.

He served in the Army from 1943, participated in the Normandy Invasion and was stationed in Northern France during WWII from 1944-1946.

He owned Marquardt Insurance Agency in Winter Haven, Florida for three decades.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Sertoma Club and the Lions Club.

He was a charter member and Deacon of Parkland Baptist Church of Winter Haven under the ministry of Gene Hitchcock. He later attended the Winter Haven Worship Center.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen (Wentzel) Marquardt and his siblings, Art Marquardt, Elsie Wilbrett, Alma Schalm and Harold Marquardt.
Edward is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Jean (Edmonds) Marquardt; children, Randall Marquardt, Bob Marquardt and Nancy Marquardt; Six grandchildren, Shawn Marquardt, Holly Pucci, Jessica Wildman, David Marquardt, Calah Cummins and Justin Marquardt; Ten great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Kim Marquardt.

He was kind, charming, sweet, intuitive, fun loving, witty and a story teller. He was a gentle man, who loved his Lord and his family. He always believed the best about and for us, encouraged us and held us in prayer. We’ve loved him and he will remain alive inside our hearts always.

Arrangements are under the care of Newcomer Cremation and Funeral Service, Titusville, Florida.

An informal family memorial service was held Nov. 7, 2016.

A Committal Service will be held on Friday June 16, 2017 at 3pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL. All those who have loved him are invited to attend
